Art, the Post-human and the Nonhuman

Kathy said: “We are now living in a mixed reality paradigm where the real and the virtual, the natural and the artificial blend and intermingle in complex ways”. Indeed, there are more and more movies about robots and alien creatures, using realistic movie special effects, which are well received and sought after by the audience. Just like WestWorld, the ratings are extremely high and people are very interested in the subject. This is the penetration of digital art by post-human and non-human culture.

There are several different paths for post-human/humanistic research. The first kind of research from the perspective of science, reflecting on the human, this is also known as post-humanist research. The second is to reflect on the concepts of humanism and anthropocentrism from the perspective of philosophy, especially to study the relationship between man and animals from the perspective of animals, which sometimes becomes the "animal research" of later Humanism. Third, Agamben from the western philosophy, from the political and legal people become animals in the reality of the situation, to explore the liberation of life, the realisation of the reconciliation between human and non-human epicenter. In the field of art, post-anthropocene research is often accompanied by "Cyborg". Ready Player One, Ghost in the Shell, and the Marvel Comics Superman franchise are all movies that are related to this theme.

Post-humanism was born with technology. It is the evolution and advanced version of later humanism. Its purpose is to change everything about humans and consider them humans. For example, by inventing robots and discovering space, we have reduced our particularity as a species and focused more and more on scientific discoveries, which will make our past and future easier. These trends have been reflected in all fields of art, whether it is literature or visual art. Defining post-humanist art means defining post-humanism, although it may not have a unified meaning. In critical theory, post-humanism attempts to rewrite the definition of human beings, expanding the concept of identity by denying the singularity of identity and rejecting traditional concepts about human nature and human conditions. For post-humanists, the information model is more important to the existence of the state than any realisation in the biological matrix, and historically, the information model is regarded as accidental rather than the necessity of life. They believe that consciousness is a phenomenon, and the body is just a prosthesis that can and should be repaired or even replaced. In post-humans, there is no essential difference between physical existence and computer stimulation, cybernetic mechanisms and biology, and robotics and human goals.
